Basketball Recap: Varela's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Killian last Tuesday, Varela came back down to earth. The Varela Vipers fell to the Southwest Eagles 60-54. The Vipers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Varela still got an impressive performance from Alex Perez, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and five assists. Perez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaron Reyes, who posted ten points and three steals.

Varela's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8. As for Southwest, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.

Varela wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-26 victory against JC Bermudez Doral on the 31st. Southwest has also already played their next contest (against South Dade), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
