Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Eagles vs. Monroe Vikings

For the second straight game, Chavez will face off against Monroe. The Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

Chavez is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Monroe on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the Vikings.

Ivan Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chavez saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Monroe, their win bumped their record up to 20-2.
