Softball Recap: New Bern Triumphs

New Bern won the last time they faced South Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bears walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Falcons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Anna Champey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Koda Kirksey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Byrd Ella, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

New Bern's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for South Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.

As of now, neither New Bern nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
