Basketball Recap: Ava Piovarchy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Buckeye over Holy Name

Buckeye was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 56-35 to the Holy Name Green Wave. If the Bucks were looking for revenge after losing 60-42 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Buckeye's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Piovarchy, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Buckeye smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Buckeye's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Holy Name, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.

As of now, neither Buckeye nor Holy Name have any future games scheduled.
