Recap: Hopewell Titans vs. Chambers Cougars
It was a good run, but the Hopewell Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chambers. Hopewell has struggled against Chambers recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Hopewell's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quay Watson, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Watson hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Derrick Eley, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Chambers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Patton, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Patton has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Tarris Bouie was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds.
Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Chambers, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Hopewell will be playing at home against West Mecklenburg at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matchups -- so hopefully West Mecklenburg likes a good challenge. As for Chambers, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Chambers' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
