Baseball Game Preview: Clay Eagles vs. Springfield Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Clay will face off against Springfield. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clay will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Clay's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Springfield 11-0. Considering the Eagles have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Besgrove made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Clay got a massive performance out of Chase Vriezelaar, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Vriezelaar a new career-high. Alex Goetz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Clay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only posted an OBP of .158.

Clay's record is now 14-4. As for Springfield, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-10 record.
