League recap: Palos Verdes Peninsula's Hong delivers best pitching performance from past week

Bay's top pitcher this week was Mitchell Hong. He won one game and struck out 10 batters.

In the ongoing battle for first place, Palos Verdes beat Mira Costa this week, 7-1 on Thursday. Palos Verdes leads the league with an 8-2 record, and has an overall record of 21-8.

West boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Warriors have given up a mere 246 hits on the year in addition to compiling 126 strikeouts. Ryan Grudnitski is the leader in that category with 30 Ks on the season.

Although Palos Verdes Peninsula finished first in the league this week with 61 hits, the Sea Kings still sit atop the the league leaderboard with 231 total hits this season. Edward Haus has a team-high 28 hits on the season for first-place the Panthers, which went 1-1 this week.

Palos Verdes Peninsula's Haus finished his week with nine hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .350 and ranks seventh in the league with 28 hits.
