Baseball Game Preview: Western Wayne Wildcats vs. Old Forge Blue Devils

Western Wayne is 2-8 against Old Forge since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will take on the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Western Wayne fell victim to Riverside and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Vikings.

Western Wayne saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamie Chapman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Chapman has hit this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Old Forge's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Mid Valley by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 4th.

TJ DiMattia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. Angelo DiMauro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Western Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Old Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Western Wayne came out on top in a nail-biter against Old Forge in their previous meeting on April 4th, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
