Preview: Linganore Lancers vs. Frederick Cadets
The Linganore Lancers just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Frederick Cadets at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
On Monday, Linganore was able to grind out a solid win over South Carroll, taking the game 62-50. That looming 62-50 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Linganore yet this season.
Linganore's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Hodgson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hodgson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Christian Petruzzello was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Frederick had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Varina by a score of 60-53. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Frederick has scored all year.
The win got Linganore back to even at 2-2. As for Frederick, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Linganore was dealt a bruising 81-44 loss at the hands of Frederick when the teams last played back in February. Can Linganore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
