Softball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Bobcats vs. Raymondville Bearkats

Rio Hondo and Raymondville are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bobcats will host the Bearkats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Rio Hondo sitting on three straight wins and Raymondville on five.

Rio Hondo's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Santa Rosa with a sharp 18-0 victory.

Madison Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Danielle Rocha was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olga Zuniga, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Rio Hondo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Raymondville made easy work of Progreso on Monday and carried off a 15-1 win.

Rio Hondo's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Raymondville, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
