Softball Recap: Barren County Snags 14th Win in Last 16 Games

Allen County-Scottsville typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Barren County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Patriots back in April, they had to take a 10-7 defeat.

Shea Bogue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Briley Aidala, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Norah Shirley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Barren County is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Allen County-Scottsville, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barren County will welcome Logan County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Allen County-Scottsville, they will face off against Russellville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
