St. Anthony took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Saturday. They never let the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Friars, who have now won 26 games in a row dating back to last season.
Not much got past Melissa Gordon, who gave up just four hits to keep St. Joseph-by-the-Sea off the board.
On the hitting side, St. Anthony's got a big performance out of Sarah Bielski, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony's will take on St. John the Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, they will challenge Notre Dame Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
