Softball Recap: Springfield Wins Going Away Against Mckay

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Corvallis, Springfield was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the McKay Royal Scots by a score of 6-3. That looming 6-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Millers yet this season.

Chloe Sankey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on one hit and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Springfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Patrick-Busby, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

The victory snapped Springfield's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for McKay, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will face off against Eagle Point at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for McKay, they will venture away from home to challenge North Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.67 runs per game on average), something the Royal Scots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
