Football Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Bell Eagles

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will challenge the Bell Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roosevelt will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Roosevelt is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Garfield just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jason Moreno, who rushed for 83 yards, and also threw for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six passes. Another player making a difference was Abraham Cardenas, who gained 115 total yards and two touchdowns.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bell and Legacy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again last Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 17-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since November 8, 2024.

Roosevelt now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Bell, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Roosevelt came up short against Bell in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 21-8. Thankfully for the Rough Riders, Erick Stubbs (who rushed for 111 yards and three TDs, and also picked up 47 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
