Softball Recap: Ledyard Beats Waterford for Their Third Straight Win

Ledyard waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Waterford Lancers. This was payback for the Colonels, who suffered a 12-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alexia Lemmon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Dalton, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Bonser, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Ledyard's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Waterford, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-2.

Ledyard will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
