Soccer Game Preview: Poquoson vs. Smithfield

Poquoson is 1-9 against Smithfield since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bull Islanders will venture away from home to face off against the Packers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poquoson got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Arcadia by a score of 3-1. Poquoson haven't had any issues with Arcadia recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Poquoson hit Arcadia with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Preston Caudle, Jonas Bryant, and Preet Amin.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Smithfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against New Kent on Thursday as they made off with a 4-0 win. Considering Smithfield have won six matches by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Poquoson's record now sits at 3-12. As for Smithfield, their record is now 11-1-3.

Poquoson couldn't quite get it done against Smithfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 3-1. Can the Bull Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
