Basketball Recap: Millbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jane Moreland and Jaliah Jackson

Millbrook came up into this matchup off a tough 22-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Evergreen Christian Eagles by a score of 62-60 on Saturday. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Millbrook's loss came despite strong showings from Jaliah Jackson and Jane Moreland. Jackson dropped a double-double with 29 points and 17 rebounds, while Moreland dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. The game was Jackson's third in a row with at least 21 points. Mackenzie Jones was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Millbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Evergreen Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adriana Jenkins led the charge by going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and seven boards. Maddie Wivell also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Millbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Evergreen Christian, their win bumped their record up to 13-17.

When Millbrook and Evergreen Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Millbrook will try to stop Sherando's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Evergreen Christian will square off against Christ Chapel Academy and their four-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
