Basketball Recap: Freeman Comes Up Short

Freeman was the 46-38 winner over Avon when they last played one another back in February of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Freeman Flyers lost to the Avon Pirates on the road by a 52-36 margin on Friday. The match marked the Flyers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Freeman still got an impressive performance from Vaida Ammann, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Ammann a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Hofer, who posted seven points.

Even though they lost, Freeman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Freeman's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Avon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Freeman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Avon, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gayville-Volin at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
