Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Monday. St. Pius X never let TMI-Episcopal get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.
Jessica Muniz 2026 made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Muniz 2026 was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rebecca Balke 2028, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abi Odom 2025, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
St. Pius X was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as TMI-Episcopal only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out St. John XXIII 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Apaches have posted since March 19th.
Bella Vasquez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Antonian Prep pushed their record up to 24-7 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for St. Pius X, their record now sits at 11-8-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Pius X hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Antonian Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Pius X came up short against Antonian Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 9-5. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
