Softball Recap: Antelope Has No Trouble Against Mayer

Antelope won against Highland Prep West last Wednesday with 23 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Antelope Rams put the hurt on the Mayer Wildcats with a sharp 23-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Isela Marquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Mariana Bautista was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Katie Williams was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Antelope always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .853. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mayer only posted an OBP of .235.

Antelope's record is now 2-0. As for Mayer, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Antelope beat Mayer by a score of 12-6 later that day.
