Softball Game Preview: Houston Christian Mustangs vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders

Houston Christian is a perfect 3-0 against Concordia Lutheran since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will host the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m.

Things were looking good for Houston Christian after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 14-3 to Episcopal.

Houston Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yazmine Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran earned a 9-6 victory over Kinkaid on Thursday. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Faith Keiper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Domino, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Houston Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Concordia Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

Everything went Houston Christian's way against Concordia Lutheran in their previous meeting back in February, as Houston Christian made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
