Softball Recap: Capital Takes Down Ranked Kuna

Capital faced Kuna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Kavemen. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Kavemen back in April, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Kiya Caltabiano spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Capital saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juel Cavesuela, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. McKenna Chavez was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Capital's victory bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Kuna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season.

Capital will take on Mountain View at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mavericks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Kuna does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
