Softball Recap: Pope County Pirates vs. Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats
Pope County had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-8 to make it four. They lost 10-0 to the Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Pirates' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Galatia/Thompsonville, their record now sits at 7-5. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For Galatia/Thompsonville's part, Kailyn Kahl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Kahl has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Amilya Williford was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Adams, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
