Basketball Recap: Abby Dominguez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Immanuel Christian over Fort Hancock

Immanuel Christian was the 33-26 winner over Fort Hancock when they last played one another on January 7th, but their luck changed this time around. The Immanuel Christian Warriors fell just short of the Fort Hancock Mustangs by a score of 45-42 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered against the Mustangs since November 20, 2020.

Immanuel Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Dominguez, who posted six points along with 13 rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Dominguez has posted since back in November of 2024. Kezia Rayon was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Immanuel Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Fort Hancock, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-18.

Immanuel Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-29 loss against Mesilla Valley Christian School on the 25th. As for Fort Hancock, they will head out to challenge Iraan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
