Basketball Recap: Lake Brantley Takes a Loss

Lake Brantley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hagerty Huskies. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Brantley lost on Wednesday, don't look at Kaleb Malloy. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Malloy a new career-high in points. Dean Adkins was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Asa Kohn was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 15 on his way to 20 points and five assists for Hagerty. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kohn has scored at least a third of Hagerty's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Morrow, who posted ten points.

Lake Brantley's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Hagerty, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Lake Brantley will venture away from home to square off against Lyman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Brantley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Lyman likes a good challenge. As for Hagerty, they will head out on the road to take on Spruce Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
