Newton was forced to take a big loss against they on Friday, they got the better of them on Friday. They skirted past the Salina Central Mustangs 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Railroaders: when they faced off against the Mustangs on Friday, they had to take a 10-4 defeat.

Taylor Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caroline Rickard, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Regan Hirsh, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory got Newton back to even at 1-1. As for Salina Central, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.

After both having extra time off, Newton and Great Bend will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. The Railroaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Salina Central, they will welcome West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
