Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I recap October 1, 2013

Maize took down Goddard 54-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.

South led Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Haysville Campus. Justin Stonebraker threw for 86 yards and ran for 47 yards during the win.

Treven Slayton made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cougars defeated the Colts. The 6-foot-1 junior.

JW Maldaner put up the best numbers in passing as Central fell to Derby. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns. Maldaner's favorite target this week was Kamen Kossow, who caught 5 passes for 90 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, South's Stonebraker and Zach Nachbar have proven to be a lethal combination. Stonebraker has thrown for 669 yards this season, while Nachbar, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 17 catches for 475 yards. The Mustangs' Maldaner leads the league in rushing yards with 522.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Sam Sellers' team and Hutchinson. The Cougars enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while the Salt Hawks ranks 18th.

Hutchinson made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,284 from 1,389. The improvement was largely due to a 56-32 victory over Newton last week.
