Baseball Game Preview: Shelby County Rockets vs. North Bullitt Eagles

The Shelby County Rockets will challenge the North Bullitt Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Shelby County earned a 12-7 win over Bardstown. That's two games straight that the Rockets have won by exactly five runs.

Vinny Atchison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Atchison was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Stewart, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Foster Whisman, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Bullitt). They blew past Anderson County 20-1 on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won 19 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

North Bullitt has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Shelby County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-17.
