Preview: Silver Creek Raiders vs. Independence 76ers
Silver Creek has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Independence 76ers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Silver Creek came up short against Branham and fell 35-28.
Despite their loss, Silver Creek saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Gabriel Lim, who rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, was perhaps the best of all. Lim was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Austin Price was in the mix too, providing Silver Creek with three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Independence lost to Piedmont Hills on the road by a decisive 33-15 margin on Friday. Independence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Silver Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Independence, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Silver Creek beat Independence 20-12 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Silver Creek since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
