Basketball Game Preview: Edgewood Lions vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

Having just played yesterday, the Edgewood Lions will get right back to it and host the Bishop Amat Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Edgewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Ganesha 70-29. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-15.

Meanwhile, Bishop Amat waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 73-29 victory over the Phantoms. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Phantoms are ranked 930th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Amat's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Edgewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season.

Edgewood was dealt a bruising 83-46 loss at the hands of Bishop Amat when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Edgewood, Manuel Chavez (who went 14 of 31 en route to 41 points along with five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
