Volleyball Game Preview: Santa Cruz Cardinals vs. Mountain View Spartans

The Santa Cruz Cardinals will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Mountain View Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Santa Cruz had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Monterey on Tuesday. Santa Cruz put the hurt on Monterey with a sharp 3-0 win.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-21, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Mountain View can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Cupertino. The Spartans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13, 2024.

Mountain View not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Cupertino between 19 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-19, 25-20.

Santa Cruz's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
