Softball Recap: Woden Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Woden's offense. They fell just short of the Chireno Owls by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Riley Taylor spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jolette Montoya was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Woden now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Chireno, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8.

Woden has already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Timpson on the 17th. Chireno has also already played their next matchup (against Garrison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
