Baseball Recap: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Douglas County Huskies

ThunderRidge extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Douglas County Huskies. If the Grizzlies were looking for revenge after losing 8-4 to the Huskies when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Douglas County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Douglas County's part, Gunnar Tinari was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Tinari is becoming a predictor of the Huskies' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Spensor Sharp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will take on Regis Jesuit at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Raiders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Douglas County, they will face off against Ponderosa at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
