Recap: STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans vs. Alameda Pirates

The STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans lost against the Alameda Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. STEM School Highlands Ranch took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alameda. STEM School Highlands Ranch has not had much luck with Alameda recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, STEM School Highlands Ranch still got an impressive performance from Avi Thakkar, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Tyler Munro, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Alameda's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Camilo Diocares led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diocares has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Alvarado, who scored 13 points along with five steals.

STEM School Highlands Ranch has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Alameda, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. STEM School Highlands Ranch will take on DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully DSST: Green Valley Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Alameda, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Adams City at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Adams City will be up against Alameda's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
