Basketball Game Preview: Athens Indians vs. Burr Oak Bobcats

The Athens Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Burr Oak Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Athens is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Quincy on Monday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Athens was beaten by Quincy 59-9. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Orioles recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, Burr Oak didn't have quite enough to beat Colon on Friday and fell 62-59.

Athens will need focus on slowing down Braxton Boyles, one of several Burr Oak players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Boyles is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Cole, who went 7 for 17 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Burr Oak's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Athens was taken down by Burr Oak 57-17 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Athens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
