Baseball Recap: Plano Wins Going Away Against Somonauk

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marengo, Plano was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Somonauk Bobcats 9-3. The Reapers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 10-0).

Amari Bryant and Josh Stellwagen did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Stellwagen went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Bryant is becoming a predictor of Plano's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Phillips, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Plano always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Plano is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-14 record this season. As for Somonauk, their record is now 8-8.

Looking ahead, Plano will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Johnsburg at 10:00 a.m. As for Somonauk, they will venture away from home to challenge Westminster Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
