Basketball Game Preview: Pahokee Blue Devils vs. Inlet Grove Hurricanes

The Pahokee Blue Devils will face off against the Inlet Grove Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pahokee is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Dreyfoos School of the Arts with a sharp 70-46 victory on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Pahokee relied on the efforts of Kanyon Burton, who posted 19 points, and Ja'Tahj Dowdell, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Herbert Crawford, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, Inlet Grove entered their tilt with Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gators, sneaking past 60-58.

Inlet Grove found their leader in sophomore Robert Brown, who went 9 for 17 en route to 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Brown also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Benson Murat was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Inlet Grove's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Pahokee, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.

Pahokee was taken down by Inlet Grove 76-37 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pahokee was down 42-22.
