After a string of four wins, The First Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders by a score of 3-2. The Royals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Highlanders from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

The First Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (105-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 12-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-12.

Kennedy Connell paced The First Academy's offense, picking up 17 kills. Connell got some help from Paeton Wheeler and her 47 assists. Wheeler was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Lake Highland Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

The First Academy will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Highland Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Trinity Prep at 6:30 p.m.
