Basketball Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Comes Up Short

If Asheville School (Independent) was riding high fresh off their 76-39 takedown of Pickens back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Asheville School (Independent) Blues fell 74-63 to the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles on Thursday. The Blues were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Asheville School (Independent) still got an impressive performance from Miki Gacic, who posted 28 points and eight assists. Those 28 points gave Gacic a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mattia Ghezzi, who had 14 points.

Asheville School (Independent) has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season. As for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, they pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
