The Yucca Valley Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Desert Christian Academy Conquerors at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Yucca Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Yucca Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Mirage and fell 6-5.
MacInnes Dahlberg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past San Jacinto Leadership Academy 15-5 on Friday. Considering the Conquerors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Christian Adamson was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those runs were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Westin Abarrate was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Judah Garrison, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Desert Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jacinto Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .481.
The win snapped Desert Christian Academy's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. As for Yucca Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Yucca Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Desert Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Yucca Valley couldn't quite get it done against Desert Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 as they fell 7-2. Can Yucca Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
