Basketball Recap: Rootstown's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Rootstown had won six straight games and Colbie Curall did her part to make it seven on Wednesday. The Rootstown Rovers walked away with a 59-49 win over the Mogadore Wildcats thanks in part to Curall, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 18 points in addition to five steals and four blocks. Those four blocks gave her a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Bittecuffer, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Mogadore lost, don't look at Amelia Morris. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. Morris is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Tompkins, who posted six points along with 18 boards and five assists.

Rootstown pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mogadore, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Rootstown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-37 win against Springfield on the 21st. As for Mogadore, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-37 victory against Orrville on the 20th.
