Football Recap: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Southeast Seminoles

St. Petersburg had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it five. They fell 22-14 to the Southeast Seminoles. Despite 89 more yards than the Seminoles, the Green Devils couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Cole Underwood and Blake Dickinson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Underwood threw for 318 yards and one touchdown while completing 74.1% of his passes, while Dickinson picked up 180 receiving yards and one score. Dickinson really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 84 yards.

As for Southeast, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games.

Southeast can attribute much of their success to Marvelous Jackson, who rushed for 54 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Jackson a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

St. Petersburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-14 loss against Largo on the 3rd. As for Southeast, they have also already played their next contest, a 42-0 win against DeSoto County on the 3rd.
