Eaglecrest came tearing into Thursday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 victory over the Overland Trailblazers. Given the Raptors' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Trailblazers are ranked 29th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garrett Barger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Kalimba, who to rack up 13 points.

Eaglecrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Defeat or not, Overland got some senior leadership from Siraaj Ali and Dontae Graham. Ali posted 20 points, while Graham dropped a double-double with ten points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Graham. Another player making a difference was Lawrence Amedor, who earned six points.

Eaglecrest's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Overland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Eaglecrest has already played their next game, a 56-52 victory against Smoky Hill on the 22nd. As for Overland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 78-64 win against Grandview on the 22nd.
