Baseball Game Preview: Big Spring Bulldogs vs. Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils

Big Spring hasn't had much luck against Greencastle-Antrim recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. Big Spring's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Greencastle-Antrim's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Big Spring narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Susquenita 3-2.

Greencastle-Antrim not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 21-3). They put the hurt on Spring Grove with a sharp 17-4 victory. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Greencastle-Antrim let Avery Horst and Landon Myers run wild. Horst went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Myers went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those three runs gave Horst a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JD Flynn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Greencastle-Antrim always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Greencastle-Antrim and bumps their season record up to 9-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Big Spring, their record now sits at 9-10.

Big Spring might still be hurting after the 21-3 loss they got from Greencastle-Antrim in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
