Basketball Recap: Mount Airy Christian Academy Starts Season with Win Against Frederick W

Mount Airy Christian Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 40-24 victory over the Frederick W Warriors. This was payback for Mount Airy Christian Academy, who suffered a 46-23 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Airy Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Witter, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Witter a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (57%). Caroline Apolenis was another key player, putting up 13 points and six boards.

Frederick W's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Mount Airy Christian Academy and Frederick W will both be playing Carroll Christian the next time they take the court. Mount Airy Christian Academy will head out to face Carroll Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Frederick W will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on December 9.
