Basketball Game Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Strongsville Mustangs

Euclid hasn't had much luck against Strongsville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Euclid Panthers will challenge the Strongsville Mustangs at 6:30 p.m.

Euclid is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mentor on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Euclid was beaten by Mentor 55-12. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Strongsville had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They took down the Battling Bees 78-59. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Battling Bees are ranked 32nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Strongsville's win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Euclid, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-14.

Euclid took a serious blow against Strongsville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 56-16. Can Euclid avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
