Baseball Recap: Kennedy Has No Trouble Against Wright

Kennedy's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on Wright with a sharp 19-13 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kennedy let Dorrian Dunham and Calvin Grant run wild. Dunham scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Grant scored a run and stole five bases while going 2-for-5. Those five stolen bases gave Dunham a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Baker, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Kennedy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7-1 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing nine strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.25 in the others. This is the second loss in a row for Wright and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Kennedy is taking a road trip to take on Ecole Classique on Monday. Ecole Classique has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25 runs per game on average), something Kennedy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wright, they will challenge Morris Jeff on Monday.
