Softball Recap: Benton Comes Up Short

Benton came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Herrin Tigers, falling 13-3. The Rangers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Malia Webb (2025) and Marli Klus (2025) did some serious damage despite the final result: Webb (2025) went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Klus (2025) went a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Benton's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Herrin, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-10 record.

Looking ahead, Benton will face off against Massac County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Herrin, they will host Vienna at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
