The Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees are taking a road trip to face off against the Zapata Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tuloso-Midway was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Valley View last Friday. The Warriors & Cherokees never let the Tigers get on the board and left with an 84-0 win. The Warriors & Cherokees pushed the score to 77-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.

Damian Figueroa continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 207 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, while also picking up 44 receiving yards and one TD. He has become a key player for Tuloso-Midway: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Tyler Pena was another major influence, as he rushed for 36 yards and ran in a TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tuloso-Midway was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 367 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Tuloso-Midway didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of DJ Ybarra and Jace Arriaga. Arriaga got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only three points in their last contest, Zapata made sure to put some points up on the board against Valley View on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Tigers 53-7. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Zapata's win came from a few key players Tuloso-Midway will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryan Solis, who threw for 215 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Juan Solis was in the mix as well, providing Zapata with two scores.
Zapata's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Solis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Tuloso-Midway's record now sits at 7-2. As for Zapata, their record is now an identical 7-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Tuloso-Midway has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 305.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Zapata struggles in that department as they've been averaging 277.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Tuloso-Midway against Zapata in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors & Cherokees since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
