Softball Game Preview: Ocean City Raiders vs. Millville Thunderbolts

The Ocean City Raiders will face off against the Millville Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ocean City will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Ocean City proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Egg Harbor Township 3-2.

Brooke Douglas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ocean City's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leah Catto, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Taylor Vaugh was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Millville beat Mainland Regional 6-3 on Friday. The Thunderbolts haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Millville now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Ocean City, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Ocean City was able to grind out a solid win over Millville when the teams last played on April 9th, winning 11-7. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Thunderbolts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
